It’s July and time for some laughs at the Voco Hotel that you’re sure to love!

Making his first appearance to the Voco stage is one of our longtime friends, funnyman Jay Hewlett. Jay has appeared on Comic View on BET, the Boston Comedy Festival, the Sundance and Cannes Film Festivals, the Sunscreen & AOF Film Festivals.  He performs regularly in Los Angeles at the Comedy Store, the Improv and the Ice House. He plays clubs and colleges across the country, and you’ve seen him on The Showtime Comedy Club Network, as Phil the Photographer on NBC’s California Dreams, and in Touchstone Pictures Krippendorf’s Tribe.

Joining Jay on Thursday July 23rd is the very funny Lisa Gilbert!  Lisa started her stand-up comedy career in her hometown of San Diego, CA. Marrying late in life and being a mother of 9-year-old triplets makes her both inspirational and an instant crowd favorite with her clean comedy style and family-friendly jokes. She has opened for internationally known comic Michael Jr., performed for the American Troops, and just filmed a Dry Bar Comedy Special. Lisa travels nationally speaking for churches and corporate events.

Rounding out the evening of laughter is the hilarious Linda Marcus Smith. Linda discovered comedy later in life. She can often be found strolling the Vegas strip in a prom gown bringing light and fun to the scene. Linda runs her own veteran comedy shows and training classes for military and veterans. She hosts an award-winning show “The Comics’ Spot” on YouTube where she has interviewed more than 500 comics to date.

Our night of comedy on July 23rd will be hosted by the hilarious John Liu. John is a first-generation Filipino-Chinese stand-up comedian and actor based in Southern California. Known for his sharp wit and energetic style, his comedy centers on the everyday experiences of growing up as an Asian American. He frequently performs at and hosts shows across SoCal, including events in Orange County and the Los Angeles area.
